Question

How to change the account type and account detail type? QBO asks to confirm if want to do this. I reply "yes", yet the change does not happen?

I can help shed some light on your concern about changing the account type and account detail type in QuickBooks Online.

 

You can modify the Account Type and Detail type with the following steps:

 

  1. At the left navigation panel, select Transaction then click on Chart of Accounts.
  2. Look for the account you want to modify, then click the dropdown button in the Action column and choose Edit.
  3. Select the Account Type and Detail Type that you'd like.
  4. Choose Yes to the prompt that appears. 
  5. Then Click Save.

 

If the issue persists, I recommend clearing your browser's cache. Doing so will remove the historical data and access QuickBooks with a clean slate. You can also switch to a different supported browser. Here are the shortcut keys for these browsers:

 

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Safari: press Command + Shift + N
