Let me help you make a copy of your files so your accountant can work on it, Oakcreek.

If you're using QuickBooks Online (QBO), there isn't an option to download files to a flash drive. You can invite your accountant to access your file instead. But if you want to acquire the file, you can export the data from QBO to QuickBooks Desktop if you already have the desktop version.

If you don't, you can download a trial version in QuickBooks Desktop so you can use it with the process. But first, make sure to download the migration tool in QBO to start the export. Here's how:

    1. Sign in to QuickBooks Online.
    2. Go to the Export Overview page.
    3. Select Get Started.
    4. Select the Download tool.
    5. Install the migration tool, then select Next.
    6. Read and accept the terms in the license agreement, then select Next.
    7. Select Install, then select Finish.

To give you detailed steps on the process, proceed to Step 2 in this article: Move Data From QuickBooks Online to QuickBooks Desktop.

But if you're using QuickBooks Desktop, you can create and send an Accountant's Copy to your accountant. Another option is to manually download the file to a thumb drive. To do so, follow the steps outlined below:

    1. Go to the File menu, and select Send Company File.
    2. Choose Create Copy, then Portable Company File.
    3. Choose a Location and click Save.
    4. Click OK.

For further details and guided steps when creating and sending them an Accountant's copy, I've added this article for reference: Create An Accountant's Copy of Your Company File in QuickBooks Desktop.

Additionally, if you aren't utilizing inventory yet in QuickBooks, I've got these resources to help you navigate the feature.

You can always mention me in the comment section below if you have any other questions or concerns about downloading your company file. I'm always right here ready to help if you need further assistance

    @oakcreek1

Another option, you can purchase a 3rd party service to convert your data from QB Online to QB Desktop and you can share the file to your accountant later.
