I know some methods, dmarnold51. I’m here to guide you through the process so you can record your contractor payments accurately.

For contractor payments made outside QuickBooks, you can either write a check or make an expense. Check out the following steps below to do it:

  1. Select the + New button.
  2. Under Vendors, choose Expense or Check.
  3. Enter the necessary details and save.

Please know that payments to contractors made via credit card, debit card, or third-party system, such as PayPal, are excluded from the 1099-MISC and 1099-NEC calculations. See this guide for more information: Understand which payments don't count from a 1099-NEC and 1099-MISC form.

When you’re ready to prepare and file your 1099 form with QuickBooks, you can use this guide as a reference: Create and file 1099s with QuickBooks Online.

Please don't hesitate to let me know if you have any other questions or payments that need to be settled. I'm always around to help, dmarnold51.
