How to get rid of a sub account

We'll need to merge your subaccount with the primary credit card account, juli377. We'll guide you through the process to ensure your chart of accounts is organized.

The sub-credit card account is considered a duplicate of the primary one. To get rid of it, we'll have to combine them. This moves all the data into the one you want to keep and makes the duplicate inactive.

Before doing so, please note that merging accounts is permanent. Also, QuickBooks uses some as the default for certain features. These, like accounts connected to online banking, can't be merged or deleted.

When you're ready, perform the following steps in Accountant view:

1. If you're merging accounts that have reconciliation reports, save those reports first. 
2. Go to Settings and then select Chart of accounts.
3. Find the primary credit card account. Then, select the dropdown in the Action column and then Edit.
4. Note the Save account under (Account Type), Tax form section (Detail Type), and Account name (Name) of the account.
5. Now let's handle the duplicate (subaccount). Go back to the Chart of accounts.
6. Find the duplicate or sub-credit card account (the one you won't keep). Then, select the dropdown in the Action column and then Edit.
7. Change the Account name (Name), and Tax form section (Detail Type) so the subaccount's information exactly matches the primary account you want to keep.
8. When you're ready, select Save, and then Yes, merge accounts.
