Hey there, JBarchart. You've come to the right place, the Community is here to help.

The Paycheck Protection Program banner you're seeing is to help businesses who may want to submit an application to potentially receive relief funds for their operations. If it's displaying in the form of a pop-up window when you open your homepage, you could try disabling these types of notifications in your preferences. I'll show you how:
1. In the menu bar at the top, go to Edit, then Preferences.2. A window will display with a scrolling navigation bar on the left side. Choose General from the list of options.
3. Open the My Preferences tab and select the Turn off pop-up messages for products and services box.4. Hit OK to complete your changes.

Now unwanted windows won't display when you open your books.

I'm trying to get rid of the banner also. It's not a pop up it's part of the home window. If I was interested in the ppp program I'm sure I can find information. I don't need it to be a permanent part of my program.

Hi there, @exhaustguy.

The option to remove the PPP banner on the Home Screen is unavailable for now. This new delivery system is intended to deliver important information and will allow Intuit to focus our messaging to specific groups of customers.

Currently, this will display information for the following customer groups:

  • Payroll Customers who have not yet applied for a Payroll Protection Program (PPP) loan.
  • Payroll Customers who have applied for a PPP loan using QuickBooks Capital but pending approval.
  • Payments Banner for Enterprise Full Service Plans (FSP) Customers
  • Payroll Customers who have applied for a PPP loan and have been approved but awaiting offer acceptance by the Customer.
  • Payroll Customers who have applied for a PPP loan and have accepted the Offer and are ready for Forgiveness.

In case you need help in accomplishing tasks in QuickBooks Desktop, you can check our articles here. Make sure that the topic is set as "QuickBooks Desktop."

Don't hesitate to tag my name in the comment section below if you have other concerns or questions. I'm always ready to help.

I can't believe they've left this banner up on PPP.  Ok 1 day or so fine.

That is prime real-estate on the QB screen.  Unbelievable !

I guess they don't listen to their customers.  Aren't customers the KING  anymore ?

I AM SO SICK OF THIS CRAP! I'm already not in the best of moods with everything going on this year and now I have to deal with Quickbooks interfering with my ability to see my home screen appropriately and having their agenda forced down my throat. ENOUGH! REMOVE THE ADS! or give us the ability to do it ourselves! I am so ready to start researching other accounting software.

I'm now seeing a banner that reads: "Discover seasonal hiring tips" with a big blue button that says Learn more.  First, we are not a seasonal employer so this is irrelevant.  Second, this is not an ad that can be turned off.  I have the proper box checked requesting no ad pop-ups.

THIS IS INCREDIBLY ANNOYING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  How do I remove it???

I can share some information on how to remove your those pop-up notification, @DM618.

If you’ve already set your Preferences to turn-off pop-up messages for products and services and still receiving this banner, I suggest reaching out to our Customer Support team.

They can check your account and safe environment and isolate why you’re still receiving this notification, and help you permanently remove this. You can follow the steps below on how to reach them:

  1. From your QuickBooks Desktop account, click the Help menu at the top.
  2. Click the QuickBooks Desktop help
  3. Provide some information about this concern on the search box.
  4. Click the Contact Us link at the bottom of the window.
  5. You'll now be provided a few support options.
  6. Select Get a call to arrange a callback from a support agent. Or Start a chat to chat with them directly.

Here's the contact the QuickBooks Desktop Customer Support Team article for more information about this.

Also, here's a great resource on how to set your preferences for QuickBooks: Set Preferences for Payroll.

Let me know if you still have questions with your account. I'm always here to help. Stay safe and have a wonderful day!

Anyone have success getting rid of the 'seasonal hiring' ad? It keeps coming back no matter how many times we close it. Yes, I have my preferences setting to turn off ads.

Hi,

either you remove those unsolicited banners, or I will move my accounting to freshbooks or zoho books by January 1st.

I have been looking for another option with more features as customer portals and QB on line does not offer it.

These unwanted ads are my turning point.

That solution does not work, and after paying 6 to 8 hundred dollars per seat for QB Desktop Premier for Manufacturing and Wholesale for 14 years now, we are ready to switch. Had enough! We made the suggestion for the ability to hide your bank balance in the check writing screen years ago, and nothing ever came of it. In small businesses vendors and service personnel sometimes end up behind your desk when there to get paid, and our current balance is none of their business. Many of these people are friend's and we are not going to discourage them from positioning to shake our hands or look at something unrelated in our offices. A "hide account balance on check writing screen" BOX in preferences seems like a pretty simple thing to do.
