How to put 2 reference numbers on a UPS shipping label from Shipping manager?

We have 2 reference numbers configured with our UPS account, but from Quick books Shipping Manager, there is only one field, "Reference" under the package section of the "QB Shipping Manager for UPS" dialogue box. It would be bad enough to not be able to put more than 1 reference number, but the problem is compounded because setting something in the Reference field puts that as reference #2 on the label, and reference #1 is always "UPS0000000000001", which is worse than useless, it is confusing.

Quick books help was not helpful. They gave me the 3rd party developer who wrote the Shipping Manager, but the developer doesn't support Shipping Manager, they support their product, Ship rush, which is different, including having the correct number of reference fields when needed.

Anyone use these features? Is there a possible workaround? Any ideas how to not display the bogus reference number?

Currently, we're unable to add multiple reference numbers on a UPS shipping label in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). 

 

As a workaround, we can manually enter the second reference number in the invoice or estimate by customizing it. Here's how:

 

  1. Go to the Customers menu and select Create Invoices.
  2. Fill out the necessary information.
  3. Go to the Formatting tab and click Manage templates.
  4. Choose a template and click OK.
  5. Select Additional Customization.
  6. Check the box for Other and enter Reference No. 2.
  7. Click OK.

 

For now, I'd suggest submitting feedback to our product engineers. This way, they can review your suggestion and might consider including it in our future product updates. To submit a feature request, go to the Help menu and select Send Feedback Online. Click Product Suggestion and provide a brief description of your recommendation. Once done, please click Send Feedback.
