Question

I accidentally had a date of 2024 instead of 2023 on 1099's that I already submitted to the IRS. How do I retract that?

I handwrite my checks to my vendors/contractors during the year and I enter them in quickbooks when I do 1099's.  However, I didn't change the check date on accident.
For example, I wrote a contractor a check for $4, 900 with a date of 01/19/2024, then submitted it to the IRS.  It was accepted.  I need to reverse that on about 10 contractors.

We can make corrections to your submitted 1099s so you can update the date, Glenn. I'll provide details about this below.

For e-filed 2023 1099-NEC or 1099-MISC forms, beginning in 2024, you can submit amended ones through QuickBooks Online or QuickBooks Payroll. Please check back later for instructions.

To learn more about fixing an error or filing on your 1099s, please see this article: Correct or change 1099s in QuickBooks.
