Question

I am trying to e-file my 1099s and it keeps saying "we couldn't fetch your 1099s for filing. Please try again later." I have been trying all day

I've checked our records and there's an open investigation where the customer encounter an error message "Something is not right we couldn't fetch your 1099s for filing. please try again later when File 1099s". Rest assured our engineers are working together on the permanent fix. 

 

In this case, it would be best to contact our Payroll Support Team to add you to the list of affected users. They'll send you an email notification once there's an update on this issue. Here's how you can reach them:

 

  1. Click the Help tab in the upper-right corner.
  2. Go to the Assistant tab.
  3. Click Get help from a human.
  4. Choose Chat with us or Have us call you.

The deadline to e-file 1099's is 1/27 which is tomorrow.  They have been working on this all week.  What should be done if Quickbooks isn't fixed?

I can only imagine the hurdle that you’ve been through, @sbergj. I'd be pleased to share some update and help you submit your 1099s in QuickBooks Online.

 

Yes, there’s an in progress report about the error message mentioned above. Please know that our engineering team is actively working to get a fix. Rest assured that a progress has been made. 

 

In the meantime, please review your company’s information. You can also update or correct any missing data before trying to file it again. You’ll also want to consider printing it and filing it directly. 

 

Here’s how:

 

  1. Go to Payroll, and select Contractors.
  2. Select Prepare 1099s and then Let’s get started.
  3. Review your company name, address, and tax ID so it matches your tax notices or letters from the IRS.
  4. Select the boxes that represent the type of payments made to all of your contractors this year. Then select the accounts used for these expenses or payments. Select Next.
  5. Ensure that your contractors’ personal info and email addresses are correct, then click Next.
  6. Review the payment totals for each box you selected in step 4. The payments will be automatically separated between the 1099-NEC and 1099-MISC forms. Select Next.
  7. Select E-File for me to e-file your 1099s. Or select I’ll file myself to print and mail the forms yourself.

Hey there, @mjolly1993. 

 

Welcome to the Community and thanks for joining in on this thread. 

 

This issue was taken place back in 2023. However, the errors were within the backend of the system. 

 

With this being said, let's try some troubleshooting steps that our engineering team suggested last year: 

 

Start the Prepare 1099 workflow from step 1 to correct any missing or invalid information (Examples: invalid EIN format or phone number format, etc.)

 

If everything looks good, please re-enter the information by deleting it all and re-typing the company information. Tip: Don't copy/paste the info, that usually results in invalid characters being entered into the form. 

 

In the end, if the issue persists, reach out to our Customer Support Team so they can take a further look at your account.
