Question

I finished 1099s on January 24th and the system said they were mailed that day. Its February 6th and no one has received their 1099s. How long does it take? What gives?

Thank you for turning to the Community regarding your 1099 concern, beanfan.

It can be concerning when important documents like 1099s don't arrive as expected. I'm here to help and provide clarity about the delivery period for the tax form.

All 1099 forms are mailed by January 31 to the residential address in the contractors' profiles. They'll receive them within 7 business days.

If your suppliers don't receive their forms within the period stated above, you can consider printing them from your account. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Taxes menu and select 1099 filings
  2. From there, you can select View 1099 to view a PDF copy.

On the other hand, you can invite the contractors to view the digital copies of their 1099s. Refer to this article for detailed instructions: Invite a Contractor to add their Tax Info.

When the vendors receive the invitation, they'll have to enter their W-9 information. Then, an email will be sent informing them that their 1099 is now available for viewing. Let me share the steps to see the forms:

  1. Sign in to QuickBooks Self-Employed.
  2. Go to the Clients menu.
  3. Select the Forms tab.
  4. Check out the forms from there.

I'm adding this reference that offers tips and answers about managing the form in the program: Get answers to your 1099 questions.
