Question

I have a Canadian customer that says they can't pay the invoice because quickbooks doesn't accept Canadian zip codes. Any solution to this?

If you're using the GoPayment feature, the option to pay with a Canadian Credit Card is currently unavailable, Lfar. This is designed to accept the zip code of the Merchant account location (US GoPayment and US zip code). I'll assist you in finding an alternative.

I recommend visiting our app market to look for third-party providers that can process payments in currencies other than your local one. Here are the steps to find applications within your QBO account:

    1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online account.
    2. Select Apps from the sidebar menu, then go to the Find Apps tab.
    3. Enter a keyword in the search bar or click the Browse category button to filter the results.

Once you've addressed that, consider setting up multicurrency if you need to handle transactions in a different currency. After enabling it, you can manage transactions in various currencies and QuickBooks will automatically handle the multicurrency accounting. Please note, this feature can't be disabled once turned on. For more details on what occurs after activating Multicurrency, check out this resource: Learn about Multicurrency in QuickBooks Online

Once confirm that multi-currency is a fit for your business, here's how to turn it on:

    1. Navigate to the Gear icon. Then, select Account and settings.

    2. Proceed to Advanced.

    3. Click Edit ✎ in the Currency section and pick your Home Currency.

    4. Tick the Multicurrency checkbox and acknowledge the permanency of this action. Then, click Save.

Once set up, you’ll be able to manage various currencies.

After receiving a payment from your customer, you'll have to record it in QuickBooks to mark the invoice as paid. Otherwise, the invoice will remain open and marked as unpaid in your reports, leading to unbalanced accounts.

I'm committed to providing you with the best support possible. If you have more questions about processing payments or any other features in QuickBooks, feel free to revisit this thread and I’ll respond promptly.

Does this cost extra money per month of my subscription to handle multi-currencies?
