Hi there, bernadette. I can guide you through the process of breaking up the hours into two payments in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

If you mean that a client is a customer,  we can create two separate invoices for the client, each reflecting a portion of the 112 hours worked and the corresponding payment.

Here's how to create two separate invoices:

  1. Go to + New and Click on Invoice.
  2. Enter the client's details and select the appropriate customer.
  3. Add the hours worked.
  4. Save and send the first invoice to the client.
  5. Repeat steps 3-6 to create the second invoice for the remaining hours worked.

To apply payments to two separate invoices:

  1. Go to +New and click Receive payment.
  2. Select the customer for whom you want to apply the payments.
  3. Choose the first invoice to which you want to apply the payment and enter the payment amount.
  4. Repeat the process for the second invoice, applying the appropriate payment amount.

However, If your client is a contractor, we have the option to make one payment through direct deposit and the other payment through a paper check.

Keep your posts coming if you need further assistance in recording payments to your clients in QBO. I'm always here to help. Have a great day!
