I have several employees who were set up and paid as contractors. When I run the 1099 summary report, their names show up but no amounts. I've read several set of instructions but I'm still not sure how to fix this.

To fix your 1099 Balance Summary Report, @MikahKreko. We can check if you're paying your contractors from the right expense. Allow me to assist you on this.

It could be that when you create an expense payment for the corresponding bill, it should be recorded either as a check or pay bills to link it with the bill, and then the zero amount will disappear on the Balance Summary Report.

However, if you have created a vendor credit mistakenly with the balance amount, we can delete the credit so that it will show on the report. There are chances that the expense account is wrong when recording the payment. If the amount is off, you may want to review the contractor payment transactions and the account associated with them. Here's how:

  1. Go to Reports.
  2. Enter Transaction List in the search bar, then select Transaction List by Vendor.
  3. Select Customize, and set the Report period to Last Year (or Last Calendar Year).
  4. Go to the Rows/Columns section. Select the Change columns link then put a checkmark on the Split box.
  5. Go to the Filter section.
  6. Check the Vendor box, and from the dropdown, choose 1099 vendors who are in question.
  7. Select Run report.

Please check the Splits column to identify which accounts are associated with the vendor's transactions. If you see the word "SPLIT," click on the transaction to view the details of the affected accounts. For Bill Payments, access the corresponding bill to determine which expense accounts were impacted.
