Question

I have an employee who is salary but also did some extra work which was paid out via venmo (1099 type). How do I add that for them for their taxes?

Wondering if they need a 1099 as well as their w-2 or can I add an area to their w-2 for these extra payments?

Thanks for joining the QuickBooks forum. I'm here to share information that could help you handle these transactions.

First, consulting with a tax professional or accountant is highly recommended. They can provide advice on whether you can handle these transactions by entering them as payroll or as 1099.

If it turns out for payroll, I recommend reaching out to our QuickBooks Online Payroll Support Team. They are the best person to help you handle these transactions.

To speak with one of our experts from QuickBooks Online Payroll Support. Please follow the steps below to contact support:

1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online company. Select Help (?).

2. Choose either tab: Assistant or Talk to a Human.

3. Search or click Contact Us.

4. Start a chat with a support expert.

You can contact us from Mondays to Fridays, 6 AM to 6 PM PT, and Saturdays, 6 AM to 3 PM PT.

However, if it is for 1099, just to set your expectation, QuickBooks Online doesn't support 1099K unless you are in a Merchant subscription to QuickBooks. For detailed information, refer to t his article: How Intuit generates Form 1099-K.

I'm adding these articles you can use in the future:
