Question

I have QuickBooks self employed, and I have one 1099 contractor I need to file a 1099 for. I can not figure it out how to do this without signing up for payroll.

I've got an option to help you file your contractor's 1099, lemays120.

While QuickBooks Self-Employed is a tool for monitoring your income, expenditures, mileage, and tax details, it does not currently support filing 1099 forms for your contractor within the program.

You can sign up to our E-file service (standalone) website instead. This way, you can add your contractor's information and file their 1099 form to the IRS. I'll guide you through the steps:

  1. Go to the 1099 E-File Service page, and select Start for Free.
  2. Enter your email address and select No, I'll enter my 1099 data. Then, click Continue.
  3. If the email address you entered does not yet have an Intuit account, you will go through the standard process of creating an Intuit Account, and then select Sign Up.
  4. After you click Sign Up, you will see this screen.
  5. If your email address already has an associated Intuit account, you will go through the standard sign-in process and select your company from there.

For additional details and fees, check this article: File your 1099 E-file Online.

Keep me posted if you have further concerns about filing your 1099. I'll be glad to assist you more.
