Object Not Found : Something you're trying to use has been made inactive. Check the fields with accounts, customers, items, vendors or employees.

You got me now, leslie. Let's make the inactive object active again so you can add an employee's withholdings without error in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

The error message you've encountered means the employee you're trying to use has been made inactive. That said, you'll need to make it active again.

To check if the employee is inactive, see the steps below:

  1. Hover your cursor on the Payroll menu at the left navigation bar.
  2. Choose Employees.
  3. Click the small gear icon above the Action column.
  4. Tick the Include inactive check box. Then the inactive employees will show up with a Make active tag instead of Edit.
  5. To make the employee active click the Make active.

Once done, you can proceed again with adding your employee's withholdings.

You can refer to the following articles for additional details on managing employees in QBO:

You can count on me if you have other queries about managing employees and taxes in QuickBooks. Stay safe!
