I need help filing a 1099 for a gift card winner at my company. I received their W9 but the $1,500 they won isn't on file here on QuickBooks.

How can I still file the 1099 and include the $1,500?

Hey there, @adelina-dacaj-ta

Thanks for taking the time to reach out to the QuickBooks Community. I hope your day is going great so far.

Typically, users will create an expense account named Gift Card, then use it to map to the 1099.

After creating the expense account and recording the transactions for your gift card, you can map the accounts by following these steps:

  1. Go to Expenses > Vendors > Prepare 1099s.
  2. Select the Continue your 1099s or Let’s get started button.
  3. Go to the Accounts section and select the boxes that represent the type of payments made to all of your contractors this year, then hit NextImportant: There are changes to the 1099 forms and boxes in 2021 for tax year 2020, so choose your boxes carefully. Most businesses will choose “Nonemployee compensation (Box 1 1099-NEC)”, but check with your accountant if you think you might have made other types of payments.
  4. Click Next until finish.
