I deleted a transaction while reconciling. The transfer is cleared in one account but  I can't figure out how to get it back into the other one.  My beginning balance is off.

I understand how important managing your finances is by ensuring accurate beginning balance in QuickBooks Online (QBO), saddleridgex. No worries. I'm here to assist you further.

To fix a deleted transaction that reconciled in one account and get that specific transaction back to another one, you can follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and select Audit Log.
  2. Locate the deleted transaction by filtering out the correct UserDate Changed, and Events.
  3. To recover the details from the Audit Log, let's re-enter the transaction with its original date, user, and the correct account by going to the + New icon.

Ensure to use the transaction details from the Audit Log to input all required info into a new one.

Also, let's check the reconciliation status of the re-entered transaction by going to the Bank Register. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and select Chart of Accounts.
  2. Locate the specific account and click on the View register under the Action column.
  3. Click the re-entered transaction and ensure the status isn't marked as reconciled (R) or cleared (C).
  4. Adjust the status to ensure it appears in the reconciliation process by clicking it.

By doing this, you can recover the missing transaction, accurately reconcile your accounts, and resolve discrepancies in your beginning balance in QuickBooks.
