Question

I want to set up QB to do business account(s) as well as use it to track and manage personal finances. How do I do that? Will one QB online plan do this?

Don't mix your business and personal financial records. You can use QBO for your business and an old QB Desktop with a non subscription license for your personal records.

Yes, Ttbbs, you can use a single QuickBooks Online plan for your business and personal finances. However, as SIAB suggests, we recommend maintaining them separately to ensure better organization and simplify tax preparation.

Here are some options:

  1. Use Separate Accounts: Create distinct accounts for business and personal finances to categorize transactions and generate separate reports.
  2. Create Classes or Categories:  If you prefer a single account, use the "Classes" or "Categories" feature to differentiate between personal and business expenses and income.
  3. Add Another Company File: You can have multiple company files under the same Intuit account. Each file is a separate subscription, but you can switch between them easily.

You may also consider QuickBooks Live Bookkeeping or consulting an accountant who can streamline your accounting tasks, maintain precise records, and provide expert assistance.
