Hi there, @RobbyD. I've got the instructions you'll need to bring in your information to QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

In QuickBooks Point of Sale (POS), you can set up a financial exchange setting to transfer your data to QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) and the other way around. Since you don't want to affect any of your existing data in QBDT, you can start a new company file during a financial exchange transfer. Let me show you how.

  1. Go to File.
  2. Select Preferences.
  3. Click Company.
  4. Under Financial, select Set Up QuickBooks Desktop Connection Now.
  5. Select Let me choose a new company file.
  6. Enter your Admin login credentials.
  7. Click Finish.

Lastly, I've also included this reference helpful for a compilation of answers to the most commonly asked questions while using POS: QuickBooks Point of Sale (POS) FAQs.

Feel free to post again if you have further questions or anything else. I'm always here to help. Keep safe.

I already do that.  What about my inventory?  I need it moved back to QB desk top.

Thanks for your prompt response, RobbyD. Let me help you import your inventory data to QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

When transferring your inventories to the desktop program, you can export them using the Default Excel template from QuickBooks Point of Sales (POS). To have a seamless transition, you'll need to ensure and follow specific templates and formats to prevent errors when moving your data file.

Before doing so, please note that the default template exported from POS must have 65,000 rows at a time when importing them. To guide you in exporting these data, you can refer to the steps outlined below:

  1. In QuickBooks POS, go to the File menu and select Utilities Then click Export.
  2. From the Data Export Wizard, click Inventory Items and select Next.
  3. Enter all the necessary data.
  4. Then, from the Choose export template, you may select the default inventory template.
  5. Select Next.
  6. Validate if the records ready for export are correct and click Export.

Once done, you can modify all the information from the template and import them to the desktop program.
