Question

importing data from quicken

is there any good tool to allow me to copy/move my existing Quicken data into QuickBooks and have it even close to usable?

I have decades worth of data in Quicken, from close to 50 different accounts and thousands of transfers between these accounts.

The help file says to simply export from quicken to a csv file, then import that into QuickBooks Online, the last time i tried that it was a disaster of unusable data, so i just deleted it and stuck with Quicken.

I can't do it anymore.  I have to get this data into QuickBooks.

Please tell me there is hope for me to keep this to less than a 10 hour project.

Thanks

Good evening, @ChristopherBaber

It's great to see a new face here in the Community!

The best route would be to use a CSV file to bring the Quicken data into QuickBooks Online.

Here's a guide that gives additional details: Move your Quicken data to QuickBooks Online

If you have any other questions or concerns, don't hesitate to ask. Have a wonderful day!

I tried that in the past, and the csv file solution does not handle account transfers well, so I ended up with thousands of transactions that need manual adjustment.  It also didn't handle bringing in all the different accounts, it felt like it was going to take hundreds of hours to 'fix' the results of this process.  that's just not something I have time for.

@ChristopherBaber

Which Quicken year version do you have?

You can use QB Desktop to convert your data from Quicken and convert it to QB Online.

I don't have QB desktop, and I'm not sure I'm willing to purchase it just to try to see it this works any better than the supposed QB online solution of exporting and then importing a csv file.

Have you ever personally done this, and has it worked for you?  My main concern is the inability to handle transfers properly.

@ChristopherBaber

The same question. Which Quicken year version do you have?

You can use the trial version of QB Desktop with the same year version to convert your data from Quicken.
