I'm managing an on-prem instance of Quickbooks and the machine that hosts QuickBooks Database Server Manager has an extremely large Backup folder. Is there a way to make incremental backups?

I know how important it is to save storage space, and while the incremental backup isn't available in QBDT, we can still set up your backup options to limit the number of backup copies and remove the old ones that you no longer need in the folder.

 

To reduce the size of the backups folder, follow these steps:

 

  1. Navigate to the File menu at the top and choose Switch to Single-user Mode
  2. Then, return to the File menu, hover over Back up Company, and select Create Local Backup.
  3. In the window, choose Local Backup and click Next.
  4. Finally, click Options to configure your settings and set up your backup preferences.

No.  When you create a backup, you are basically copying the entire QuickBooks company file and also additional files and putting them in a ZIP archive file.  There is no other option.

 

However, there is also no technical need to save all backups.

You don't need to keep all those backup files (*.qbb). Do you have Pro/Premier or Enterprise?
