I have Quickbooks Desktop Enterprise Solutions 2018 installed on a desktop computer. I have a new desktop computer that I want to use so that I can dispose of the old desktop computer. I want to install the software and transfer the data to the new desktop computer. How do I proceed? Is there a link so that I can download the software onto the new desktop?

Hello @Jeffrey7,

You can download the installation software of QuickBooks Enterprise 2018 from the Downloads and Updates page. Let me show you how.

  1. Go to the Downloads and Updates page.
  2. Select United States.
  3. Click Standard Setup.
  4. Under Product, select QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise.
  5. On the Version field, select 2018.
  6. Select Search.
  7. Click Download.

On the same page, you can also find the resources about installing and activating QuickBooks is also provided for your reference.

However, you'll still need to open QuickBooks from your old computer to get a copy of your company data. You can do this by following the steps outlined by my colleague above.

Additionally, I've also included this reference for a compilation of articles you can use while working with us: Help Articles for QuickBooks Enterprise.

If there's anything else that I can help you with, please let me know by leaving any comments below. I'll be here to lend a hand.

Let me get the help you need in installing your QuickBooks Desktop account to another computer, Jeffrey7.

We can use the Migrator Tool to do so, in which you'll need to be the Company Admin.

To start, have your new computer connected to the internet and prepare a USB flash drive with enough free space to hold your QuickBooks files. The Migrator Tool will tell you how much free space you need. Most people need between 150 and 250 MB.

Once done, you're now ready to set up and use the Migrator Tool. Here's how:

On the old computer:

  1. Go to the File menu at the top.
  2. Choose Utilities.
  3. Select Move QuickBooks to another computer.
  4. Tap I'm Ready, then create a one-time password.
  5. Follow the instructions to choose the USB flash drive you’ll use.
  6. Then wait for the files to be copied.

On the new computer:

  1. Insert the USB flash drive. Please be informed that due to Windows security restrictions, the Migrator Tool won’t automatically launch.
  2. Open the flash drive to view its files.
  3. Double-click the file Move_QuickBooks.bat to start the migrator.
  4. Enter the password you created.
  5. Hit Let's go.
  6. Wait for the Migrator Tool to finish.

Once done, migrator files will be automatically deleted from your USB flash drive. Then, your QuickBooks files will still be on your old computer. With that said, we highly suggest changing the name of the file(s) on the old computer to avoid using the wrong file.

I'm just around if you need more help with the process. Feel free to leave a reply below. Have a great day.
