Question

Integration of Data from two sources. One is QB Accounting and the other is a benefit portal. Which source has overwrite rights?

Could you let me know, if QB Accounting has overwriting rights in the Chart of Accounts, if there is an import from another platform with a Chart of Accounts.  The Chart of Accounts in both systems if for the same company, I would want to confirm (if some accounts are named differently) which system will overwrite data or will there be duplicates.  QB Accounting will be the system that the data will be imported into.

Thanks,

QuickBooks should have overwritten rights when you're importing data from another platform, DataATW. I'll provide more details on this matter below.

Before we begin, we'd like to verify if you've checked with the benefits portal about linking your data to QuickBooks. If they can't do it directly, you can manually import your chart of accounts using a spreadsheet in Excel, Google Sheets, or a CSV file.

When you import accounts, QuickBooks will detect and notify you for duplicate names (the same name). Once they're named differently (but with the same details in QuickBooks), the system won't identify them as one. To alter this, you can merge all those known duplicates to keep your accounts organized.

Also, I've included this article to answer the most frequently asked questions about importing data to QBO: What information can I import to QuickBooks Online?.

Please keep me posted if you have any additional integration concerns or questions about importing the chart of accounts to QuickBooks. I'll be right here to help.
