Question

Intuit has changed my workflow without my permission or input.

When creating a new invoice, the previous method would be that the invoice opens and the customer field would be active with the cursor.  Now one must click once or twice in the customer field to enter a name.

This is similar to a change in entering line items.  Previously one would click in the item field and start typing an item name.  Now one must click twice in the field to be able to make the field active.

Please, please, please stop changing things for the sake of change.  Stop adding steps to my workflow.

Entering an information automatically in the invoice field without clicking it twice would be ideal. I'll guide you on how you can submit a request.

You'll want to let our product team know how this feature helps your business. You can visit our Customer Feedback page by submitting feedback. Then, click the Give feedback option. I've attached screenshot for your visual guide:

Additionally, QuickBooks provides you some tools so you can create a personalized and  professional looking invoice for your customers. To learn how, check out this article for more details: Customize Invoices, Estimates, And Sales Receipts In QuickBooks Online.

Yes, it would be ideal. Funny, that it WAS ideal, and then Intuit changed it for some reason in the past few weeks.  Same with many input fields in QBO.  It's wasting my time!  And frustrating and annoying.

And now we should put it in as a "suggestion" ?

RE: Intuit has changed my workflow without my permission or input.

This is typical for QuickBooks Online, as is the Intuit rep's response to enter a "suggestion" to resolve what I'd call a bug.  Yet another reason to use QB Desktop instead of QB Online. Desktop would never make a change like this, making data entry harder for everyone.

I also have this issue all of a sudden as of 2 days ago.  What happened?

I'm here to help you troubleshoot the latency issue you've experienced with invoices in QuickBooks Online (QBO), Kyle.

If you're referring to the above-stated issue of having to click your customer tab and product/service, we'll have to troubleshoot your browser to isolate if this is a cache-related issue.

Please log in to your QBO account on an incognito or private browser window using these keyboard shortcuts:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N

Then, create an invoice to check if the customer and product/service fields will be accessible after one click. If it does, clear your browser's cache to remove specific issues and help the program run efficiently. Also, you can use other devices and supported browsers to ensure everything works as expected.

Additionally, you can refer to this article about personalizing your sales forms: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.
