Question

Intuit marketing material sent to family members

I am not sure where to direct this question. I use QuickBooks online, and have been very happy with the product. However, i was surprised to see that my daughter, who lives in our house, was mailed a promotional pre-qualitied term loan offer from QuickBooks.

My daughter has no affiliation with my company. I reached out to Intuit security to see if this was a scam - and if not, how was my daughter sent this pre-qualified offer – having no relationship with the company? It smelled like some form of database leakage or identity theft. I inquired twice and did not hear back. I reached out to the support line - their solution was to cancel all marketing correspondence, which we did, but my daughter just received another offer for the same pre-qualified term loan from Intuit.

Is anyone else experiencing a similar issue of unsolicited marketing email from Intuit being sent to your family members? I'm none too pleased with this. I'm reaching out to the consumer protection bureau as well to progress the issue further via their fraud/scams department.

You came to the right place, @felgryn13. Let me assist you on this.

Normally, you'll only receive promotional pre-qualified term loans if you subscribe to a newsletter or any similar service from QuickBooks Capital.

If you suspect that the email is a scam, there are steps you can take to verify its authenticity. Here are a few things to look for if you’re not sure an email came from Intuit:

  • We’ll never ask for your personal info in an email.
  • Our emails will always come from an email address that ends with @intuit.com. This includes @e.intuit.com.
  • Any link we send you in an email will always be for an intuit.com address.

Additionally, let me show you how to report a fraudulent email.

  1. Go to the Intuit Online Security Center
  2. Select Go to security notices for further information.
  3. If you don't find a similar email within the Security notices, select Report a suspicious email to file a report.

On the other hand, when you have verified that the email is from Intuit, I recommend contacting our support team to check the status of your case.
