inventory category doesn`t exist ((

There is no inventory product category in quickbooks online - just services and non-inventory.

I need to import data from my accounting practice to company`s QB Online and I can`t create an inventory item ((

The inventory feature is only available on QBO Plus and Advanced. If you are using QBO Simple Start or Essential, you may upgrade your plan. I would recommend to cancel your account and open a new blank QBO account instead. The discounted rate is not applicable when upgrading your plan.

Hello,

Hope you are doing well.

If you want to add and track the inventory of your business, you can use the ‘item list’. It is to be noted that, to access this feature you first need to activate the QuickBooks inventory feature. Once you activate the feature, you can easily add the accounts that are needed for inventory to your list of accounts.

 

Follow the below-mentioned steps to enable the QuickBooks inventory feature.

1. Go to the menu button and select Edit as shown in the image above and select Preferences.

2. Now, you will see the ‘Preferences’ dialogue box in the left pane, thereafter, click on highlighted ‘Items & Inventory and then select the ‘company preference tab’.

3. In the company preferences tab, click the ‘inventory and purchase orders are active’ checkbox.

4. After the above step, click ‘OK’ when QuickBooks notifies you to close open windows.

Turn on inventory tracking

 

If you haven’t yet, turn on these settings so you can add your inventory.

  1. Go to Settings ⚙ and select Account and Settings.
  2. Select Sales.
  3. Select Edit ✎ in the Products and services section.
  4. Turn on Show Product/Service column on sales forms.
  5. Turn on both Track quantity and price/rate and Track inventory quantity on hand.
  6. Select Save and then Done.
