When creating invoices is there a way to change the way item codes are displayed? I want them in alphabetical order but they are by type.

I'll elaborate with you in detail on how QuickBooks displays items on your invoices, gerdees371.

 

Before we begin, we want to confirm if you're referring to the Stock Keeping Unit (SKU) information for products or services when you mention "item codes."

 

In QuickBooks Online (QBO), items on invoices are displayed alphabetically by name, not by codes, making it easier to locate the one you require. Please see the screenshot below for your reference.

That is the item codes I'm referring to. They are not in alphabetical order

Based on the image you sent, are you trying to change the item codes displayed in the invoice using QuickBooks Desktop? 

 

If so, changing these codes is not applicable in QBDT and will follow the default setting of these items. However, you can send a feature request or suggestion to our Product Development team to add this for future updates. Rest assured that we value your requests, and we want to improve your experience with QuickBooks. You can follow the steps below to send your suggestions:

 

  1. Open your QuickBooks Desktop account.
  2. Go to the Help menu, then select Send Feedback Online.
  3. Select Product Suggestion.
  4. Fill in the necessary fields and enter the details of your request.
  5. Click Send Feedback.

 

Additionally, you can re-sort the item lists to make them more organized and undo changes made.
