Is there a way to record a "sales" person involved in the generation of the invoice? We have some invoices that are sold as "sponsorships" and we pay a commission on those sales, so it would be nice to have a way to have the system track who the sales person was so we could sort a report by a sales field and save a little time. I've looked on the invoice screen and I don't see any sales field, and I haven't found anything in preferences.

You can add the Sales Representative directly from the List menu and customize the invoice to display this information, Deadwood. I'll share the steps below.

Here's how:

  1. Go to List, then Customer & Vendor Profile List.
  2. Select Sales Rep List.
  3. Double-click the field and enter the salesperson's complete details on the form.
  4. Once done, hit OK.

After that, generate the invoice and customize it to display the Rep details:

  1. From the Invoice page, pick the Template you want to apply the Rep section to.
  2. Select Customize Data Layout from the Formatting section.
  3. Enable the Rep option from the Header tab.
  4. Modify the Title section if necessary.
  5. Once done, hit OK.
  6. Choose the salesperson from the Rep dropdown.

Once the salesperson is added to the invoice, you can customize your report to show the designated Rep of the transaction:

  1. Run your desired sales report.
  2. Click the Customize Report button, then the Display tab.
  3. Enter and tick Rep in the Columns section.
  4. Once done, hit OK.

You can also pull up reports like the Sales by Rep Summary or the Sales by Rep Detail, which provides your sales data linked to sales representatives.

I'm also attaching these resources you can utilize to maximize your invoice template personalization and save your reporting modifications:
