Invoicing Glitchiness

Hi.......

I'm using QuickBooks Desktop for Mac 2021 (v20.0.12.1048 R13) on a MacBook Pro running macOS 12.6.3.

 

I created a custom invoice in Layout Designer. Every time I come back to this, certain fields (principally "Job #", but also sometimes "Invoice #") become corrupted (fonts changed, no longer display data) and the only way to fix them is to delete the fields and re-create them… which is a PITA to do every single time I need to invoice someone. 

 

Is there any way to solve this?

Hi there, @RC_in_MN.

 

I'll outline how to fix various invoicing glitches with QuickBooks Desktop for Mac. This way, you will no longer have to delete and recreate particular fields on your invoice. 

 

We can use the verify and rebuild tools to identify and correct the most frequent data issues in your company file.

 

Verify data:

 

  1. Proceed to File.
  2. Choose Utilities.
  3. Click Verify Data, then select OK to close all windows. If you see “Your data has failed the integrity check” you need to rebuild your file. If there are no problems with your data, you’re done.

 

Rebuild company file: 

 

  1. Choose the File menu, then select Utilities.
  2. Click Rebuild Data, then select OK to close all windows.
  3. QuickBooks will ask you to make a backup before rebuilding your company file and then select OK. 
  4. Lastly, click OK.

 

Once done, prepare an invoice again to check for glitches.

Hi Rubielyn......

Thanks for your reply and ideas. I ran Verify, which found something right away, so then I did a Rebuild. 

 

After that, when I ran a test invoice I saw a problem with one field, which I fixed in Layout Designer. After that, I quit and restarted and built a test invoice, which looked OK. I have done that twice since, and it seems to be holding.
