It sounds like you're getting suspicious emails, Jean.

We only discontinued QuickBooks Desktop for Windows 2018 after May 31, 2021. And, notifications are sent through email before the discontinued date.

You can browse these links for additional information about this.

If the email is asking you to take actions like providing personal information, please don't open it. Here are a few things to look for if you’re not sure an email came from Intuit.

  • We’ll never ask for your personal info in an email.
  • Our emails will always come from an email address that ends with @intuit.com. This includes @e.intuit.com.
  • Any link we send you in an email will always be for an intuit.com address.

You can report the email by following these steps.

  1. Go to this link; https://security.intuit.com/.
  2. Click Contact Us.
  3. Look for Report a fake email (or phishing email) and click on it.

Let me also share these articles on how you can better protect your account and how we keep your data secure.

Don't hesitate to post again if you have other concerns with QuickBooks. Or leave a comment below if you need additional information about the email you received. I'm always around to help you.

What do you mean with "discontinued"? Intuit has just officially released QBD 2022 since last week.

Well... I just discovered you are partly right..

Quickbooks Desktop is not 'discontinuing' exactly... but outright purchase of the product has indeed been discontinued.

QB Desktop 2022 is now an annual subscription.

That sucks.

The older versions could be used for 3 years before support stopped.

It now seems that after one year, the programme will 'die'. You are locked in to an annual replacement cycle..

@Flyingkiwi

You can still buy QBD 2021 US and CA with the one time license. They decided to discontinue QBD UK version.

Exactly... I am keeping my QBD 2021 Premiere (and using it until 2024!).

I think people who upgraded will be selling these for good prices ...heheee

From what I can understand, the UK Desktop version is being discontinued and will no long work after 31 Jan 2023, so no, the email received Oct21 was not spam if received in the UK.

I think we are haveing so many Tax and regulation changes the Intuit has decided not to try to keep up.  Awful decision tbh as the desktop version is far superior and faster than online.

Yes you are right. They decided to stop developing the QBD UK version. If your company is not located in the UK or does not need to comply with MTD requirements, consider migrating to the QBD US version instead.

This is not good news. I used the UK QB Online for an international charity in Sweden, and they needed to stop using it as the audit trail did not meet legal standards. The verification number / transaction number trail that is easy to see in the Desktop version was not possible in online. (OK, this was 4-5 years ago).

Transferring to US Desktop system is also a nightmare as the files are not compatible.

So - it will be like starting again. And, if you are starting again, I would go to another company as QB USA seem to be locking the Desktop version into annual licensing (for now)....

After 25 years of using Quickbooks (UK and US versions)... the clock is running and Intuit seem to have lost the plot.

I just called Quickbooks to add a user to our stand alone version 2021 and was told as of May, we will no longer be able to email invoices from within quickbooks unless we upgrade. Quickbooks had a great reputaion for helping small business and now they are virtually making everyone upgrade.

@jlm5105

They support QB Desktop 2021 until May 2024. The person you spoke to would basically prefer you to buy a new license for QBD 2022. She/he might not get a commission for selling additional seats. You can purchase the additional seat for your existing license from partners/resellers. Contact us in private for assistance.

What? Can they degrade our QBPro 2021 functionality?

This is crazy. I am emailing invoices all the time, via SMTP.

This makes me angry.
