Question

Is there a way to Bulk Convert "Other Names" to Vendor Type? This is for Quickbooks for Mac

I saw that someone had asked this question for QuickBooks Desktop, but I did not see how to do it in Quickbooks Desktop for Mac.  I have a bunch (and I mean a bunch) of "other names" type that I want to bulk convert to Vendors.  Is there a way to do this in the Mac version of Quickbooks without doing each one manually?

I got you cover, @RBlazer.

I have some information about converting other names to vendors in QBDT for Mac. The steps in changing the other names in QBDT are the same in QBDT for Mac. Please note that once this change has taken place, the name type can no longer be altered.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Lists, then select Other Names.
  2. Right-click the other name, and hit Change Other Name Types or Edit Other Name Types. This will open the list of the other names.
  3. From there, you can tick the Vendor name column on names that you want to convert.
  4. Click OK.

Here's how it looks like.

With the above steps, you're able to convert your other name list in bulk. Feel free to download our QBDT for Mac user's guide at this link.

Let me know if you still have questions or concerns with list. I'm more than happy to assist you. Take care and have a lovely day ahead.

The solution outlined only applies to Quickbooks for Desktops (not Quickbooks for Desktop for Mac -- see screenshot).  The Mac version does not do everything that the Windows version does.   Is there even a solution for the Mac version?

Hi there, RBlazer.

Thank you for coming back to provide additional clarification about what interface you have right now on your screen. I also appreciate you for attaching a screenshot for visual reference.

Based on your screenshot, you can click the "Edit Other Name" as per the steps outlined above when changing the other names in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.

For additional information, you can click this article: Add a customer, employee, or vendor in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.

Please refer to this article to see steps on how you can add, edit, and track sales reps using the Mac version: Add a Sales Rep in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.

Keep in touch if you need any more assistance with this, or there's something else I can do for you. I've got your back. Have a good day.
