Properly recording and applying your credit card payments to vendor bills is essential for maintaining accurate financial records in QuickBooks Desktop, 560372. Let me guide you through the process to achieve this.

If you're experiencing an issue with QuickBooks Desktop where the credit card payment is not reducing the vendor amount payable, it could be how the transactions are being recorded. Let's make sure we record the credit card payment by following the steps below:

  1. From the Banking menu, select Enter Credit Card Charges.
  2. Choose the Credit Card account and click Purchase/Charge.
  3. Enter the necessary information.
  4. Tap the Expenses tab and choose Accounts Payable under the Account column.
  5. Enter the Amount and press Save & Close.

Then, link it to the bill in the Pay Selected Bills section. Let me guide you on how:

  1. Go to the Vendor menu.
  2. Select Pay Bills.
  3. Choose the bill created.
  4. At the bottom part of the page, click Credit Card under Method.
  5. Choose a credit card account under Account.
  6. Click on Pay Selected Bills.
  7. Press Done.

Once done, review the vendor balance by going to the Vendors menu and selecting Vendor Center. Then, choose the relevant vendor and review the balance and recent transactions to ensure the payment has properly reduced the amount owed.
