I am trying to import transactions downloaded from my bank — provided in QBX format ("Quicken Web Connect"). However when I try go to "Banking" --> "Downloaded Transactions..." it asks me to "Set up online banking" and my bank (ETrade) is not listed.

Is there a way to manually import .qbx transactions? Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Thank you for your feedback, oadslug.

I also appreciate it that you're sharing what you've done to be able to upload your transactions in a QBX file. If all banks will provide transactions in this format, there could be a chance that our engineers will work on this. I won't give you false hope, but I'm taking note of your feedback.

About your question, yes, QuickBooks doesn't support a QBX file for importing bank transactions. From what I've known, a QBX file is an accountant's copy, not a web connect or bank file.

You can check about setting up and using online banking. This article also talks about adding and matching transactions and letting your financial institution to sign up to be included in our list.

Importing bank transactions is so easy in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac, oadslug.

You'll have to use the WebConnect feature to allow you to download bank transactions from your financial institution. Please follow the steps below.

  1. Select Website.
  2. Find the download area for your account.
  3. Download a statement to your computer.
  4. In QuickBooks, open the Downloaded Transactions window and select the Import File icon to import your statement.
  5. For each downloaded account, select a matching QuickBooks account from the Store in the QuickBooks Account menu. Choose Continue.
  6. After QuickBooks finished importing transactions, choose OK. QuickBooks displays the transactions in the Downloaded Transactions window.

Once done, import the transactions to QuickBooks.

  1. Go to Banking, then select Downloaded Transactions.
  2. Choose Import File.

I've included this article in case you'll want to add and match transactions: Set Up And Use Online Banking (Mac).
