Question

Merchant Services through Quickbooks

Buyer beware -  we signed up for Quickbooks merchant services and everything was going fine.  Then we discovered that if you charge a card and then refund it the same day, you are charged TWICE by QB. We were charged once when the charge initially went through through and again on the refund (although the refund fee  was about $20 less than the original charge).  Our other merchant account does not charge us at all if we refund the card the same day, and even a few days later if we refund the card, we are charged a small fee and nothing on the refunded amount.   All totaled, Quickbooks policy cost us roughly $200 on a transaction that was never completed because it was refunded the same day.  We're going back to our other merchant account for most of our  transactions.  Seems a bit overreaching to us.

I value your perspectives, val26.

When you process a refund to a customer's card after the batch has closed, it will incur the same processing fees as the original transaction. However, if you void or cancel a transaction that occurred before the batch closes, it will not incur the same processing fee as the original transaction.
