Merging corporate credit cards

I have a corporate credit card account with three employee credit cards under it.

In Quickbooks Online, I added all 3 accounts as Credit Cards in the Chart of Accounts, linked them to my bank, and the transactions were then imported from a certain date. Here's where the problem is: The transactions for all credit cards are showing up in their Quickbook accounts fine, but the Corporate Credit Card account only imported the payments, which I guess is correct (as in the credit account statement).

I've tried to move the individual cards under the corporate card but QBO gives me an error:

You can't change the parent of this account to CORP Account - xxxxxx - 2 because it or its parent is already set up for Online Banking or Web Connect.

How can I merge all these cards together?

Thx,

Hi there, @Chrisco1.

Allow me to help you clear things out. As mentioned by the error, you can't move the individual cards because it is connected to online banking.

We'll need to disconnect your credit card to remove the error. I'll teach you how to do it.

Beforehand, you'll need to know that if you disconnect an account from online banking, your existing accounting data won't change. You can reconnect it anytime to start downloading transactions again.

Here's how to disconnect your credit card account from online banking:

  1. Go to Bookkeeping, select Transactions, then select Banking.
  2. Select the tile for the bank account.
  3. Select the pencil icon, then select Edit account info.
  4. Select Disconnect this account on save checkbox.
  5. Select Save and Close.

  1. Go to Bookkeeping, select Transactions, then Bank transactions.
  2. Select the tile for the bank account.
  3. Select the pencil  icon, then select Edit account info.
  4. Select Disconnect this account on save checkbox. Note: If QuickBooks is downloading new transactions, you won't see this option. Wait a few minutes for the update to finish and try again.
  5. Select Save and Close.

Feel free to read this article for more details: Disconnect accounts connected to online banking in QuickBooks Online.

Moreover, with the merging of your account know that it needs to have the same credit card account to enable it for merging. If not, it isn't possible except for duplicates account.

For future use, if you see an error message or don't see recently downloaded bank transactions. You can read through this article to fix this: What to do if you get a bank error or can't download transactions in QuickBooks Online.

If you have additional questions about credit accounts and merging accounts, never hesitate to go back to this thread. I'll be happy to lend a hand. Keep safe and have a blessed week!
