Merging Duplicate Items in a Work Order

Let's say I have a work order open in Quickbooks Desktop Point of Sale. Whenever I add 2 of the same items, instead of just adding +1 to the ordered quantity column, it creates a brand new line item. I would like to change this so that if I enter an item thats already listed on the work order, it automatically 'merges' with the existing line item and just adds to the order quantity.

 

 

I attached a screenshot above. In this example, if I type in 7755 twice into the item search bar, I would like it to display TWO of the Clear Eyes product. Thank you!

We appreciate your suggestion about adding the same items that create a new line item. Please add your vote for this one by sending a feature request within QuickBooks. We're actively working to enhance our platform and provide the best experience for our users.

 

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Help menu and then select Send Feedback Online.
  2. Choose Product Suggestion.
  3. Add the type of feedback.
  4. Type in your feature suggestion.
  5. Once done, click Send Feedback.

Thanks for the reply! To confirm, there isn't a setting or version of Quickbooks that would allow me to have this set up? 

So that if I have an item in a work order and add the same item above, it automatically merges and shows the quantity as 2?

You're absolutely correct. At present, there isn't a particular configuration or QuickBooks version that directly supports the arrangement you want.

 

Hence, if you include an item within a work order and subsequently insert the identical item above, it merges automatically and displays the quantity as 2.
