Question

Multi User POS 19 failure to find server

I'm running the discontinued POS 19 version and occasionally the multi user mode does not connect to my secondary register. It fails to locate the server. We've tried toggling from multi user to single user several times and also checked firewall settings and nothing helps.  I once came across a fix that worked, but have lost my printed cheat sheet. It required going into the program files and deleting a specific file forcing QB to rebuilt it, but I can't recall the steps.  Thanks in advance for advice!

I appreciate the steps you've taken to fix the error you're experiencing, Tale. I'll share some insights and provide alternative ways to resolve this.

The firewall settings are still causing the connection between your secondary register and the server in a multi-user setup using the discontinued POS 19 version. Due to its discontinuation, an expected error occurs since updates are no longer available.

As a workaround, depending on your firewall settings, exclude or remove your QBW file and the files that require internet connections to rebuild QuickBooks and enable the multi-user mode. You can check your firewall software for instructions on removing the file.

If the problem persists, consider checking this article for guidance on resolving the errors blocking the multi-user connection to your server: How to fix Error H202 and H505. It's applicable in QuickBooks POS.
