Question

multiple credit cards used on one receipt

I am trying to input receipts into qbo. On one particular receipt, the amount was split between two credit cards. When i go to review the receipt before i create the expense, i see no option to have this receipt apply to two credit card accounts. Is there a way to do this that i am unaware of? Or do i need to scan/input the receipt twice, one for each credit card and the amount that was on that particular one?

Welcome to the Community, brooks9421! We'd be pleased to help you with your goal of recording your receipt in QuickBooks Online. We aim to ensure that you can use the program efficiently and effectively.

To address your concern, you can enter the receipt twice or use the Journal Entry feature to record the transaction. The Journal Entry feature allows you to debit the expense and credit the credit card, ensuring that your books balance accurately.

To create a journal entry, follow these steps:

  1. Click on the +New icon.
  2. Select Journal Entry under OTHER.
  3. Select an account from the Account field and debit the expense on the first line.
  4. On the second line, choose the other account you want to move money to or from to credit the credit card.
  5. Tap Save and Close.
