How do I go back to Home Currency US Dollar? I've set up multiple currencies preferences for adding UY Peso as foreign currency as an additional currency to record some transactions, but I set it as Home Currency by mistake.

You can purchase a 3rd party service to disable the multi currency setting. But I'm not sure if they can return the currency to USD.

Thanks for returning to this thread, AraceliV. Let me add more information about Multicurrency and help you delete your company file in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

As my colleague mentioned, once the Multicurrency feature is enabled, it can't be disabled. It works as intended because the currency conversion information needs to be included in the system moving forward. Please note that there's no particular way to reverse this and their affected data.

That said, if you have a backup copy of your company file before Multicurrency was enabled, we can restore the file and access your data using the said backup.

However, since the feature has already been turned on for the past six years, there are some transactions that you'll have to re-enter after the backup restoration.

On the other hand, we can delete a company file in QBDT. Yet, before proceeding with the deletion, I recommend saving a backup copy of your company file that you can restore and access afterward.

Moreover, your company file comes with an extension type. We need to unhide the file extension before it will appear in your device folder and then delete it. To proceed, kindly follow the steps below:

Press the Start button on your keyboard and enter the Company files (Location: C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\Intuit\QuickBooks) on the search bar.
Open the folder and select View on the upper-right corner of your screen.
Click Options and choose the View tab.
Uncheck the checkbox on the Hide extensions for known file types. After that, hit Apply and then select OK.
Locate the company file in the folder.
Click the file once and press the Delete button on your keyboard.

Once you select a specific home currency during the software setup process, you can change it if you haven't enabled the Multicurrency feature. Since you've already performed multiple currency preferences on your end, going back to the US Dollar is currently unavailable. For now, you can create a new company file and set up the home currency to US dollars as a workaround. This helps you to organize your currencies for easier tracking of data, particularly for taxes.

Here's how:

Open QuickBooks Desktop.
From the No Company Open window, choose Create a new company.
Choose Express Start or Start Setup if you want to get started right away.
Select Detailed Start if you want to do a complete setup so all of your info is in from the start.
Follow the onscreen steps to finish the setup.
Choose Start Working.

Once completed, you can re-enter the transactions into your newly created company file to effectively manage your entries based on the currency you desire.
