Question

My QBO account only allows me to select credit card and bank payments, but no options for PayPal or Venmo, etc. How do I add these as payment methods I can accept?

You can use PayPal/Venmo as the payment method in QuickBooks by turning on this option from the Account and settings page, Nana. I'll walk you through the steps.

Here's how

  1. Login to your QBO account.
  2. Navigate to the Gear icon, then Account and settings.
  3. Go to the Sales tab.
  4. Click the designated Pencil icon for the Invoice payments tab.
  5. Enable the Accept PayPal option.
  6. Once done, hit Save, then Done.

Step-by-Step: Add PayPal/Venmo as a Payment Method in QBO

✅Option 1: Connect PayPal via the App Store

  1. Go to Apps in the left sidebar.

  2. In the search bar, type "PayPal".

  3. Select "Connect to PayPal" (developed by Intuit).

  4. Click Get App Now and follow the prompts to link your PayPal account.

➡️This will allow you to:

  • Accept PayPal and Venmo payments.

  • Automatically sync PayPal transactions with QBO.

✅Option 2: Add PayPal Manually as a Payment Method (for invoices)

  1. Go to Settings (⚙️) > All Lists

  2. Click on Payment Methods

  3. Click the New button

  4. Enter the name (e.g., PayPal, Venmo)

  5. Choose Payment Type: typically "Other"

  6. Click Save

Now when recording payments manually, you can select PayPal or Venmo.
