New company in expired QB Desktop

I have an old, expired version of QB Desktop (Premier Contractor Edition 2020) that I have kept to use for my personal finances, since there's no way I can afford their monthly subscription. I wanted to create a new "company" file, but when I log in to the new file, it's asking me for my QB online login. Is there anyway to get around that? I'm aware that there is no service and no updates to my version, but that's ok with me for now.

Can you login to CAMPS and find your license code there?

Yes, it's possible to create a new company file in an older or expired version of QuickBooks Desktop (QBD), SarahCO. I'll share more details below.

The prompt to log in to your Intuit account when creating a company file is to strengthen security and licensing processes. Thus, you can still create a new company file once you're logged into your account. Here's how:

  1. In the No Company Open window, select Create a new company.
  2. You have two setup options:
    a. Select Express Start or Start Setup if you want to get started right away. You only need to enter your business name, industry, and business type and select Create Company File to create your company. You can enter this info later on.
    b. Select Detailed Start if you want to do a complete setup so all of your info is in from the start.
  3. Follow the onscreen steps to finish the setup. Note: If you have an existing company file in QuickBooks, give your new one a unique name. This prevents QuickBooks from accidentally overwriting your data.
  4. Click Start Working.

Once you create your company file, you can personalize QuickBooks for your business by following the Next Steps: Get started in QuickBooks Desktop in this article.

Additionally, learn what you can do with your existing file if QuickBooks is running slow or you're reaching a list limit.

Please let us know if there is anything more we can help you with in managing your QBDT company files. We're here to support you in ensuring the best possible use of QuickBooks, SarahCO.

Thank you. When I click on "Create a new company," the screen it takes me to only gives me the options of who I am creating the company file for: For myself or For someone else, or "other options". If I click "for myself" and then click "start setup," it won't let me proceed without logging in online. It doesn't make me do this for my already existing file. Is there any way around this? I'm worried if it requires an online sign-in, QB will just decide one day to not let me access my file.
