HOW DO I GET MY OLD INVOICE TEMPLATE BACK?

Thanks for reaching out here in the Community space, @KP675.

 

Before anything else, we'd like to thank you for allowing us to help you with your current situation. If you want to switch back to the old invoice experience and utilize your old invoice template, we'll gladly write down the steps to help you revert your invoice to the old layout inside QuickBooks Online (QBO):

 

  1. Access your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. On the left navigational bar, click the +New button.
  3. Select Invoice.
  4. On the top-right corner, click the Old layout button.
  5. Click the Switch layout button.
  6. Enter or select the necessary details, and then the click Leave and submit button.

Once you've reverted back to your old invoice experience, here's how you can get back to your old invoice template: 

  1. Go to Settings ⚙ and then select Custom form styles.
  2. Find your template.
  3. Select the dropdown ▼ in the Action column.
  4. Select Make default. You'll see (default) displayed by the default template name.

If you don't have don't have the Old layout option and want to get your old invoice template back. You'll want to go to the Design section below the Payment options. Select the invoice template you created to use it for your invoices.

The old layout option is GONE.  This happened last week a tech joined my computer remotely and couldnt find it or fix it.  I opened a ticket and waited 2 days for them to fix it.

 

It is so beyond frustrating..why do they keep forcing change...it is so time consuming.

 

I have attempted to work with the new format but am unable to add lines in the middle of an invoice.  The dots where you usually click on turn to a hand and you are unable to add lines.

 

I have wasted hours on this.

I am EXTREMELY FRUSTRATED that QuickBooks Online keeps forcing "new" things on its users. The latest change being a "new look" for invoices. I have selected the "old look" as my default, but the view and functionality is not the same, and there is no way to make it appear like it did before. The "new look" is obnoxious and time-consuming to use, and it is NOT WHAT I WANT OR NEED. Every time QuickBooks Online forces something "new" on its users, it requires time and effort by users to learn the "new" and never improved option. It also forces the change on our customers, which is not what they want. PLEASE STOP FORCING NEW CHANGES on your users just so you can justify your jobs. As a user, I pay for this service and should be allowed to decide whether or not I want what new thing you have to offer. PLEASE SWITCH THE INVOICES BACK TO THE OLD VIEW AND FUNCTIONALITY!

THIS IS SO FRUSTRATING!!!!!!!!!

I have tried everything.

I do NOT have a "button" in the upper right corner to switch back to the old.

I can't find ANYTHING on this new look.

It is terrible.

It took 6 clicks just to find activity.

It took 2 minutes to find the client's email address.

And some email addresses are now missing.

 

Why does INTUIT keep doing this?

 

New is NOT better....it sucks.

 

Put us back on the OLD.

I don’t have the option to switch to the old layout.  The new layout keeps giving me an error message “invalid tax line found invoice not saved” so now I can’t send invoices AT ALL.  I can’t even save them to email them on the side so basically I can’t operate my business.  I’ve called, I’ve chatted in the chat room, I’ve sent feedback and no help just a sorry we’re working on it.  This is insane I can’t WORK.  Our business cannot generate invoices.  And I’m paying them for this service that I cannot use.  I’m about to report them to BBB.  This has been going on too long

The new experience is absolute garbage. It wastes my time, my screenspace, and hides almost every option requiring more clicks. Here's more deets:

  • It's bloated, slower, and wastes screenspace- forcing me to scroll down to do what I used to accomplish on a single screen with the old interface
  • biggest pet peeve: I can no longer use the up/down keys on my keyboard to jump up and down rows. this was critical to being able to create and manipulate invoices in a rapid fashion. now it's sluggish, and requires me to use a mouse to switch fields unless I tab through each field. there's not even the option for an CTRL+UP.
  • It forces my logo to be much smaller, which I do not like
  • why break up the address info for the sender into two columns? why?!
  • It makes information that I usually refer to at a glance hidden behind 2 to 3 clicks (Activity, for instance). 
  • 'Activity' does not display the recipient email addresses when I sent an invoice out
  • Are you kidding me with the large color bar across the invoice in the Modern Theme. Try to avoid wasting ink and change the background to #FFFFFF white? Then your invoicee and the word 'invoice' becomes invisible on the invoice
  • Print Invoice is now removed from the 'Review and Send' screen; I had to hunt around all over. If your invoice was created with an older template, then you get a giant 'PAY INVOICE' button on the bottom of the invoice, as if a customer should 'press' this button on a printed copy.

This is terrible! Please bring back the old invoices ASAP; looking at changing services and leaving QuickBooks behind. Not listening to the community and only offering milquetoast so-called Support responses is not cutting it.

 

I simply cannot work with this. Everything takes two to three times longer to accomplish. Don't get me started about the total fail on allowing a customizable "modern" template, either.

I agree… new template is garbage… Typically I’ll create multiple invoices at a time, create… then save and new. This should allow for me to go to “all transactions” after I’m done and sort them by customers who receive a printed invoice and customers who get their invoice emailed only… nope those invoices are not sorted for mass emailing or printing… have to do it after each invoice or manually with the new and improved experience…
