I understand that change can be challenging, and it can take some time to adjust to a new interface, llstarboatcare and katie_b8.
QuickBooks Online (QBO) has certain reports that are already formatted in a modern view. However, If you prefer the classic format, you have the option to switch back.
Here's how:
In your QBO account, go to the Reports tab, then choose the report you want to run.
At the upper part of the page, click on the Switch to classic view option.
However, if you don't have the option to switch back to the classic view, . I encourage you to add your vote for this one by sending a feature request in the Feedback section within QuickBooks. Our product development team reviews all the feedback we receive to ensure we’re meeting the needs of our customers.
Here's how to submit feedback:
Click the Gear icon at the top, then select Feedback.
Enter your comments or product suggestions.
Then select Next to submit feedback.
Moreover, I'll also share this article that can serve as your reference if you want to learn how to get the most out of your financial reports: Customize reports in QuickBooks Online.
Feel free to post here in the Community if you have any concerns about the new format. We're always here ready to help. Have a good one!
This new format is horrible and will take me forever to integrate into my business. Please provide an actual way to revert to the old format. The way described above does not work. Thanks?
There are so many things wrong with this new format.. I cannot even invoice the way I was before. We send invoices from the field via the QuickBooks app and I can't even write more than a few sentences in the description! I have not been able to send invoices since this change took place a couple of days ago.. PLEASE REVERT TO THE OLD FORMAT!!
Same! I use the QB app on my phone on the daily, more than I use QB Online on the computer. The input screen for my sales receipts stayed the same as it used to be, but the input screen for my invoices completely changed, and I no longer have access to the line I have always referenced a PO# on. Additionally, the invoice/receipt template that I created years ago no longer shows up on my app at all. Some basic, awful excuse of a receipt that doesn't even list the items purchased is all that will appear, and then I have to individually resend all my receipts from the computer in the evening so they're correct. Toting a laptop with me all day is not an option. This is the whole point of the app, which I have used for years, and it's now completely pointless! I am at such a loss.
On a side note, the "update" is no longer compatible with my FOUR business cell phones because they made it so android version 8.1 cannot run the app. One of my employees deleted the app and tried to reinstall as fix. Guess what? It can't be reinstalled.. Thanks quickbooks! This cost me about six hours of my time and i'll likely have to buy four new cell phones. PLEASE TELL THE DEVELOPERS TO SEND ME A WAY TO DOWNLOAD THE VERSION THAT CAN RUN ON ANDROID 8.1.
We have a software as a service product with 100 customers who all must use QBO to automate billing.
We have historically turned off custom transaction numbers to allow for the invoices to be auto numbered
It seems you are forcing people onto the new format, which defaults the settings back to "custom transaction numbers" turned ON. I have gone in and reset them both in Account Settings and in Custom Form Styles- and quite often it even reverts back again! this is causing my customers a ton of anxt (and of course my support staff). Please please help tell me how to let people use the OLD FORMAT and keep custom transaction numbers OFF for good
Thanks for taking the time to share your concern about the new invoice format and turning off the Custom transaction numbers feature in QuickBooks Online (QBO), Cathy.
I understand that you want to go back to the old layouts where you are used to and I'm here to guide you on how to do it on your end.
Before doing so, please know that the new invoice format is designed to provide a more comprehensive overview of your transactions and improve the overall experience as it's based on the majority's needs, adapting to new technology's capabilities. However, we want you to know that we're not forcing you to use it. If you feel comfortable with the previous layout and prefer not to switch to the new format, there's absolutely no obligation to do so.
If you're currently in the new format, you can always switch back to the previous one in your QBO account. I'll show you how:
With regard to your Custom Transaction numbers not turning off, let's go ahead and check if this is a browser-related issue by logging into your account using a private or incognito window. The system occasionally behaves strangely when the browser frequently accesses pages. It could be due to corrupted cache files in your browser.
When you're able to turn off the feature without it reverting back, it's safe to say that it's being caused by the browser. To rectify this, return to your regular browser and clear the cache. Sometimes, cached data can cause unexpected glitches. Clearing your browser's cache and cookies will help improve system performance.
If the same thing happens even with private browsing, let's use other supported browsers that meet the system requirements like Google Chrome, Edge, Safari, and Mozilla Firefox.
For future reference, here's an article you can visit that can guide you in recording your invoice payments in QBO: Receive invoice payment.
Keep me posted about the result by leaving your reply below. I want to ensure that this is taken care of. Take care, and I wish your business continued success.
This format is awful. Harder to use the app. But the worst part of it all is that they got rid of the signature option on the invoices. I use the app to write up invoices, get a signature and then email in the signed invoice. Now I can't even collect signatures without printing the invoice. I now will have to buy a printer, print the invoices, get them signed and turned in
The whole point of using QuickBooks online is to stip using paper invoicing. I will be looking around at other accounting/invoicing options
