Question

Old bills are showing up with a negative balance after Quickbooks update

After the latest quickbooks update a whole bunch of old bills have showed up as unpaid (but with a negative amount due) - so for example there is an old bill form 2018 that was for $2,200, it now shows that it is due with a nance of -$2,200.

This happened with the last QB update, but it was only a couple of bills so I adjusted them out.

I tried going to utilities, verifying date and rebuilding data and this did not help.

Help!

Let me clarify why your account has a negative balance, Lorraine21.

The issue you're experiencing can be caused by a data damage. I suggest creating a backup copy of your company file before running the update.

Before running the troubleshooting steps, let's run the Verify and Rebuild Data Utilities tool. This is to ensure that your company file is in tip-top shape.

You can get more information about the process in this article: Verify and rebuild data in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac. It offers steps for resolving issues using transaction record numbers.

Furthermore, the following link provides resources that will show you how to manage expenses, bills, vendor credits, and other vendor-related activities: Expenses and vendors.

Fill me in if you have other QuickBooks concerns or additional questions about bills. I'll jump right back in to answer them for you. Have a good one.

HI

Thank you for trying to help.

Yes - If I look at my list of bills it has a negative $29K - these are all very old bills that where paid many years ago. Most appeared after doing a recent upgrade.  I had this happen before with a prior upgrade, but there were just a few bills, so I adjusted them out.

I had already done the verify and rebuild data (several times) before I posted my issue.

I do have back ups as I have QB set to back up every time I close QBs.

I clicked on the article you suggested.  It says after verifying and rebuilding data there will be a log of issues.  No log  appeared and there is no where to click "GO" as the article suggests.
