Online look

Coming from a 10-year run with QB Enterprise, the transition to the online is something else.  Is it possible to mirror the look of the Desktop to the Online version?

I still use a Desktop version for my personal consulting and farming.

Hey there, @ronw2.

Although this would be a great idea for our new online users, unfortunately, there isn't a way to mirror the look of QuickBooks Desktop in the Online version.

I'm happy to help you out in any way that I can. Is there anything specific you need assistance with?

In the meantime, feel free to check out our Getting started guide. This guide will give you step-by-step instructions for each area of QuickBooks Online.

If you find you have certain questions or concerns, don't hesitate to let me know. Have a great day!

Hi Tori,

Thank you for your response.  Maybe I can talk the owners into going to QB Enterprise and make it a cloud hosted. That would solve the issue.

Thanks again.

It would be so good if QuickBooks online mirrored the look of QuickBooks Desktop.

I have used Desktop for 24 years and have just migrated to Online. Very disappointed. The look of it is terrible, so much wasted space on screens and entry boxes so small. Who designed this? Desktop worked....why not design Online to look the same or even similar??? It baffles me.

I definitely agree .. I have used QB Desktop since it's inception, from the Basic to the Enterprise version and I will never recommend going to the online version. Unfortunately, the company I am currently working with went from the Enterprise Desktop version to the Online version.  After not using the online version for over 10 years, I have to re-learn Online.  This is a classic case of, newer is not always better.

I think the online version might work better for a small business, definitely not for my farms.

As a small business the Online version has caused us endless headaches.

It really has been a case of learning a new system from scratch. I can't think of any part of the Online version that is the same as the Desktop version therefore 24 years of experience is null and void!

I don't think a day goes by where either myself or my colleague doesn't call the system "rubbish".

Too much work has gone into transitioning though so we have no choice but to stick with it unfortunately.

You are not alone.  I am trying to transition to online myself.  Did you ever get used to it?

You do get used to it (to an extent) but I'm sorry to say I don't think you will say you like it!

Stupid things happen on a daily basis.

For example: Typing in a customer name in the search box and they don't come up........but scroll down the list and there they are! Bizarre. This doesn't happen every time and not with the same customer but it happens often, randomly.
