In our old desktop version, you could track a vendors works comp and general liability. We have switched to Quickbooks online version. Is there a way to track the insurance for vendors?

We're glad you've come to this thread with your concern, MHouston1. I've got insights to share to help manage worker's compensation in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

In QBO, the ability to track worker's compensation and general liability for vendors is unavailable in this program. Since QuickBooks Desktop and QBO are two different versions, we can only keep track of worker's compensation for employees through running reports in your online payroll account. However, you can manually add a note from the vendor's profile or attach documents from there and set up reminder notifications to keep track of its expiration dues as a workaround.

Furthermore, if you've subscribed to QuickBooks Online Payroll, you can run the Worker's Compensation report to keep track of and review employee's workers insurance in your account. To do this:

  1. Select Reports from the left menu.
  2. Find the Workers' Compensation report from the search bar or scroll down to the Payroll section.
  3. Change the Date Range if needed.
  4. Select Run Report.

In addition, I've added this guide to help you prepare and wrap up this year's payroll tasks: Year-end checklist for QuickBooks Online Payroll.

We'll keep an eye on this thread if you have additional questions when tracking insurance on your account. Feel free to leave them in the comments below. Keep safe!
