Operating Multiple Company Files

Hi,

We are using QuickBooks Desktop for multiple entities. The challenge we are faced with is that we are limited to operating on max two company files at the same time.

Is there any way around this? Is there a newer version of QB that allows 5-10 files to run simultaneously?

Thank you!

Do you need to run up to 10 company files on the same screen? You can setup a private cloud as a workaround.

I recognize the importance of managing multiple businesses in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), Abe.

Currently, accessing more than two company files in QBDT is unavailable. We can only open two companies in QBDT Accountant and Enterprise. The first opened file is labeled Primary, and the second is Secondary. Closing the Primary file switches the Secondary to become the Primary.

For more details, check this link: Open and use a secondary company file.

We're actively considering user feedback like yours to shape the future development of our platform. Your thoughts contribute to QBDT's growth and enhancement.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Help menu.
  2. Hover over Send Feedback Online and select Product Suggestions.
  3. Choose a Type of Feedback and Product Area (optional) from the drop-down arrow.
  4. Enter your suggestions.
  5. Hit Send Feedback.
