P&L by customer

I have a P&L by customer which shows sales by customer. I would also like to apply certain expenses to customers and have the P&L show revenue and expenses by customers. I do not want to bill these expenses to customers just want them to be applied to expenses for the P&L to determine profitability by client. I have QB essential - thinking maybe I can't do that in this version? Appreciate your help!!

I appreciate you for providing the subscription you currently have. If you want to register an expense for your customer, the best way to do it is by creating a billable expense and linking it to your customer. However, this feature is only available for Plus and Advance subscriptions. I suggest upgrading your subscription to utilize this feature. 

 

Here's how:

 

  1. Sign in to QuickBooks Online as a primary or company admin.
  2. Go to the Gear icon and select Subscriptions and billing.
  3. Make sure your payment info is up to date.
  4. In the QuickBooks Online section, click Upgrade your plan.
  5. Review the available plans and then select Choose plan.
  6. Follow the on-screen steps to upgrade your plan.

 

Once you have finished reviewing the report, you can easily export it to an Excel file.
