I can assist you with recording business expenses that were paid with personal funds in QuickBooks, sue253.

You can create a journal entry using the Owner's Equity account to record the payment of the business credit card. Here's how:

  1. Click Company.
  2. Select Make General Journal Entries.
  3. On the first line, select the expense account for the purchase.
  4. Enter the purchase amount in the Debits column.
  5. On the second line, select Partner's equity or Owner's equity.
  6. Enter the same purchase amount in the Credits column.
  7. Click Save & Close.

After recording the journal entry, write a check to reimburse the expense.

  1. Click on Banking at the top menu bar.
  2. Select Write Checks.
  3. Fill in the necessary information and select the Bank/Credit account you are reimbursing from.
  4. Proceed to the Expense column.
  5. Select Partner's Equity or Owner's Equity under the Account column.
  6. Enter the amount of the reimbursement.
  7. Add the interest in the second line item.
  8. Select Save and Close.

Upon sharing this solution, I still highly recommend getting in touch with a professional accountant to record the transactions accordingly.

I've also included some articles for your reference on handling combined business and personal finances in QuickBooks. While these articles are specifically for QuickBooks Online (QBO), the concepts apply equally to QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT):

I've also added an article to help you streamline future account reconciliations: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Desktop.
