Hi there, @gtsrob. I'm here to ensure you can retain transaction data when you enter a past entry in your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) company file.

When entering transactions in QBDT, you can choose to use today's date or the last entered date as default. Seeing that you want to keep the past entry's date when recording, you can change the default date in the Preferences section. To do so, here's how:

  1. Open your QBDT company file.
  2. Go to Edit, then select Preferences.
  3. On the left navigation panel, click General.
  4. In My Preferences, head to Default date to use for new transactions, then tick Use the last entered date as default.
  5. Hit OK.

Afterward, when you click Save & New, it will follow the past transaction date.

If the issue persists after doing the steps mentioned, you can perform troubleshooting steps to help resolve and address the specific concern you're experiencing.

I'm all ears if you have other concerns when entering transactions in QBDT. Just hit the reply button and I'll make sure to help you out anytime.

Thank you for that, but it doesn't work with Reckon Accounts Personal Plus 2022 which I am using.  If you can help with this programme, I'd be very grateful.

Reckon Accounts Personal Plus has been around for ages.  Now you HAVE heard of it, and you can probably look it up in Google.

Below from Reckon's website.

You didn't mention Rekon Accounts.

It is unlikely anyone here knows answers concerning Rekon Accounts, as it is offered in Australia and is not the same as QuickBooks - anymore.
